A Quote-

"He started to say something else- of course- but stopped as I slid my hand over to his, locking his fingers in mine. It wasn't over. Eventually, he'd make his point, or at least argue it into submission. But for now, the chords were building overhead, the chorus starting up again. So I moved closer to Owen, leaning my head on his shoulder to listen, as we settled into the sunlight coming through the window beside us. It was bright and warm, catching the ring on my thumb as Owen reached for it, spinning it slowly, slowly, as the song played on."

This book tackles a big issue, one that is near and dear to my heart because I am friends with someone who has experienced the same thing. Just Listen pulled on my heartstrings. I was reading the book but at the same time I was listening to what it was telling me. It was telling me that although someones life may look perfect, there's a lot of things hiding underneath that you're not aware of. It's saying that not everything is what it seems. Annabel appears to have this picture perfect life, a perfect family, and perfect friends. But in reality her life is the exact opposite. Her life is falling apart and her sister's eating disorder has left the family scared and restless. The "perfect" friend Annabel had hates her for something Sophie can't even begin to understand. Nothing is right in her life. Until she meets Owen Armstrong. All of a sudden her life begins to actually come together. Annabel starts showing her true colors. She shows who she really is. She says what she means and won't sugarcoat it for you. She starts telling you how it is. Annabel was the perfect main character. She was easy to love and the words she said sounded real. She was real. She went through a lot but she didn't let it break her even though there were times when she was about to collapse from the trauma. There weren't a lot of moments with Clarke but the moments I did see with her, were amazing. She is the kind of friend you would want beside you. Clarke used to be Annabel's best friend but then Sophie happened. They stopped being friends after awhile but at the end of the book when everything was coming out Clarke and Annabel started to work on their relationship again. It seemed to be working. I hated Sophie. She is a bully. She thinks the world revolves around her. She has no idea what is really going on. None and yet she bullies Annabel anyway for something she think happened. She is the perfect antagonist because it was so easy to hate her. Then there's Owen. All he wants to do is make Annabel happy. I loved him because he seems like he would be the perfect boyfriend. Sure he has a past but who doesn't? Everything he is now is not who he was then. Ad Annabel realizes this and realizes that the rumors surrounding him are wrong. He is actually a caring guy who just has some.... anger problems that he is working on fixing. Owen is obsessed with music. He always knows what to say and what not to say. He is exactly what Annabel needs. She needs someone strong and caring to take care of her. All in all I loved this book. It was an easy read with a great plot and unforgettable characters.

Why?

Why? That is a big question. It is a loaded question. Why do I review books? Why don't I review movies or music or even T.V. shows? The answer is simple. Books are knowledge. They are an  escape from reality. Books take you places. They allow you to run away from the horrors of the world. I love books because I can become a different person for a couple of hours. I can become a princess or a wizard. I could become anything I want. I could be anyone I want to be. So that is the answer to the question. Why?

Obsidian- Jennifer L. Armentrout

When seventeen-year-old Katy Swartz moved to West Virginia right before her senior year, she’d pretty much resigned herself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring, but then she spotted her hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. It’s hate at first sight, but when a stranger attacks her and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens. The hot guy next door? Well, he’s an alien. Turns out that Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities and Katy is caught in the crosshairs. Daemon’s touch has lit her up like the Vegas Strip and the only way she’s getting out of this alive is by sticking close to him until her alien mojo fades. That is if she doesn’t kill him first.

This book is a fresh take on aliens and where they are from. I wasn't able to put this book down. I fell in love with the characters and their story. It was a story that I could see clearly in my mind and it felt like a movie. Everything was described that clearly. Katy and Daemon were hilarious. They sure do know how to get underneath each others skin. The sarcastic remarks they through at each other is what made this story so real.Dee was such a fun character. The action and romance in this book were amazing. During the entire book the love between Katy and Daemon was obvious. The only ones who didn't notice it were Katy adn Daemon. I can't wait to read book two. I can't wait to see what happens between Katy and Daemon. And don't forget Dee.

There was a whole lot of build up to a whole lot of nothing. The big battle scene was stupid and not how I pictured it. Jacque and Fane built up the fight, saying how bad it was going to be, but it was a big let down. Then there was Fane adn Jacque's relationship. It was cute..... but not how mates should act towards each other. She was constantly mad at him. The only reason why this book got three stars is because it was hilarious. Jen was so funny and sarcastic. There were times when I had tears streaming down my face from laughing so hard. Jen and Sally would be the perfect friends to have because they are loyal and funny. THey were always there for Jacque. The way true friends should be. Also, the whole reason for the fight was supid. Why was Jacque so wanted? Why did Lucas Steele think she would be the perfect mate? I think that needs to be revised and explained a little better.

The Truth about Faking is a great read with a couple slow places, a great male character, and a heroine easily forgotten. I loved the love triangle between Trent, Harley, and Jason. But I feel like it was easy way out with the way the author decided to end it. Although it was kinda obvious. The description says that Trent is still getting over Stephanie but he wasn't. Jason was a funny and charming guy who wanted people to like him for him and not for what he has. Harley was a whiny and desperate girl who doesn't know what she wants. The beginning of the book consisted of her trying to win Trent over and complaining about Jason. She was a character you could easily forget. There were a couple parts where I wanted to put the book down because nothing was happening or Harley was complaining too much. Would I read the book again? Maybe.

I love this book and I love this series. I love Jared and I love Brody. I think Nan would make a great best friend. She has Mina's back throughout this book. And then there's Jared. He is just so easy to hate but then again he's easy to love. I would love it if Jared and Mina ended up together because I feel like they would be the perfect couple. He would be able to keep her safe through everything because he knows about her and the curse set upon her family. I love how this series focuses on the Brothers Grimm becasue I love their fairy tales. I love the way books and television shows are doing a modern take on classic fairy tales (Once Upon A Time and The Grimm Diaries by Cameron Jace.) I just love the modern retellings and new twist people are taking on them. The only thing I didn't like is that some of the dialogue seemed force and unrealistic. It seemed to rehearsed. That's my only problem.

I just did not like this book. The characters were great and everything, even the plot was good but it just drug on and on. After  a while I got bored with it. I felt like putting it down after a while and just stopping. It was long and worn out. There was so much internal thoughts going on. It bugged me. There should be dialogue in a book. Not just thoughts. Sometimes thoughts are good but not throughout the entire book though. There wasn't enough romance in the book. The main characters fell in love but they kissed once. I just wished that was different. And the ending. The guy had no excuse for what he did. He should not of taken that note. It was not his to take adn Jade isn't his to have. All in all the book was okay. Not great and not terrible. Just okay.

The Review

It was ok.... there were a lot of slow parts and I didn't like some of the characters. Mainly- Reese. He was annoying. He kept trying to win Ashlyn over even when she had a boyfriend. He constantly flirted with her in front of her boyfriend. He was being immature in throwing his friendship with Ashlyn in Liam's face. I also don't appreciate how the author made it so that Reese is the one who knows her secret. Why couldn't Mary know her secret? Why did it have to be Reese? Why did he have to know before Liam? Liam already knows about that world so why couldn't he know first? I get that it had to do with his brother but he still shouldv'e known before Reese. Reese knowing is just a way to keep a love triangle going. Which the author shouldn't do because Ashlyn would be perfectly happy with Liam. She doesn't need Reese screwing everything up for them. There does not and I repeat does not. Need. To. Be. A. Love. Triangle. Ugh. That was just a terrible part to the story and the story was slllloooooowwwww. I kept looking at the percentage read on my kindle. I felt like it was going on forever with nothing happening. It was boring. It gets 31/2 stars becasue some of the parts were funny and I loved Ashlyn's grandmother. The book was slow and the love triangle is pointless.

Wow! Oh wow! That book was amazing. There was action and romance and oh my gosh it was amazing. I loved Mia and forget Grey! Team Jacoby all the way! Jacoby was awesome and freakin' in love with Mia!! The romance was amazing and the fact of who Jacoby is, is even more amazing. I loved him. And then there was Grey. He was annoying and he acted like he was a spoiled child who couldn't play with his favorite toy. He was a jerk to string Mia along that way. And then there's Mia who is an exceptionally strong main character. She has heart and passion. Even with all the things thrown at her she didn't give up. She didn't decide to quit and in my book that makes her a very strong character and person. This is officially one of my favorite books.

Favorite character- Kalista
Favorite male character- Caleb
Least favorite character- Tristan

I hated Tristan. He was so.... wrong. He strung poor Kalista along and made her believe things that weren't really there. But of course the reader will learn that it's the evil "girlfriends" fault. But Tristan didn't have to go along with it. He said he loved Kalista. Why would he then tell her they were never supposed to be together. Ugh! Frustrating! Caleb was my favorite male character because he was fun and interesting. He had a story. He had history with Kalista and it was a cute history ans still a decade later he still cares for the cute little girl he met a while ago. I thought Kalista was fiesty. She knew what she was doing. She knew what she wanted and she wasn't going to let anybody take it awya from her. And whatever you do.... Don't lie to her!!!

This was a cute story. I enjoyed the story of Caitlyn and Leah. They seemed like good friends. At times their friendship seemed unrealistic ut at others it seemed real. They were funny and charming. I loved Leah and Jace together. I also like Talon and Caitlyn's relationship. It was complicated and interesting. The only downside is that the relationship was the only thing talked about. Sure they said Caitlyn was a Lumina every now and again. But it wasn't the focus. After a while I got tired of hearing about how she blushed everytime Talon talked. I mean come on! Nobody blushes that much just becasue a guy said something! There wasn't a plot. It was only Caitlyn and Talon's relationship.

In this book we have a girl named Mindy and a boy named Deam. These two used to be best friends but then Dean's parents were murdered. After that he shut everyone out, including Mindy. Although just because you shut someone out it doesn't mean you've stopped loving them. A couple of years pass and Mindy has herself a new best friend named Markus and Dean is a social outcast. He is the kind where you admire from afar but you don't want to get close enough to touch. Dean is the sexy bad boy. One night Mindy is attacked and the person who comes to her rescue is none other than Dean. But that same night Markus sees Dean kill somebody. Mindy is confused. She doesn't think Dean is the kind to go around killing people. Especially after he just saved her life. Markus says the bodies just dissappear which confuses Mindy even more. Mindy starts searching fro answers to the questions running around in her mind. As she searches for answers she becomes close with Dean again and soon after they fall in love. Although Dean's been in love with her for forever. But just as their love is igniting. Dean douses the flames and breaks up with her. He claims it's for her own good. But it's too late to save her.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters. You could tell from the very beginning that they were meant for each other. Even though they didn't want to admit it. I loved how the author brought the characters to life right before my eyes. The stroy was well written and the plot was amazing. Honestly I'm getting really sick of the whole vampire themed books/ movies. Although vampires play a part in this book, they're not the main focus. The focus is on Mindy and Dean's budding relationship. The vampires were just a way to bring them together in a way. Now let's talk about the ending........... it was terrible. I hated it with a burning passion. It was well written but the cliffhanger is what made me hate it. It's like POOF, suprise and then it ends! The ending just got on my nerves. It still does. Even though i hated the ending, I loved the book. Love trumps hate in this aspect.

A Quote from Captivated (Dean to Mindy)

"My definition of gawking would be..." He paused as if to hold back what he was going to say. But he couldn't any longer. "When you look at her and, your heart starts slamming uncontrollably in your chest. So much that it scares you. And every other noise that surrounds you slowly fades away into absolute silence. You only hear the sounds she makes. And when she looks back at you, when her eyes meet yours, it's as if she is looking deep inside your soul. And she can see all of the hatred you're consumed in. Her eyes quench the thirst of your soul, gently soothing your damaged heart in the most alluring way... a way you could only dream of." His peaceful face started to fill pain. "The those magical eyes start to look away. The time- freeze you were caught in starts to wear off. And fear takes over. You want to pull those eyes to yours again so that you could once again feel the fascinating sensations of happiness. Then, when she's out of your sight, you feel empty inside. Your heart is back to normal. Only this time, it's left with an aching worse than before. But you can never tell her. You can never be with her. You are alone in your pitiful existence-"

The Quote-

We've tried to get along. It doesn't work. There's always going to be a power struggle between all of the packs. One pack is always going to want someone else's territory or to form a larger pack. No matter what pack you choose to belong to, you must remember that you can trust no one but yourself.

The Review
4 Stars.

Howl is a great book. The main character Samara is real. She has a fiesty attitude mixed with a lot of confusion. I mean what can you expect when nobody when tell you anything? Luke only wants her to be happy and to be happy Samara must make a choice. A choice that will effect not just her but the people who care for her most. The choice she makes is really obvious. I knew from the time the packs gave her the ultimatum who she was going to choose. I wish the authors wouldn't have made her brother a rival in the book. Why couldn't she at least keep him? Oh well. All's fair in love and war. Emma(The Best Friend) is annoying. She's a bo crazy alcoholic. She's the most selfish person/ character I've ever heard. All she cares about is herself and even when it's her fault Emma blames Samara. Jeez you're not all that. Get over yourself. Samara was down to Earth adn she wasn't as whiny as she could've been. The plot was good and even though I did not like Emma the characters were good. I liked this book and it is one I will most likely read again.

How Brave Rosie? Well Rosie had to be pretty brave to go through what she did. She had to be brave to give up what she did. A Taste of Silver follows a girl named Rosie as she learns to deal with her father's new employee Hayden. Rosie can't stand him to begin with but then she learns what he really is and what he has been doing to keep her safe. Hayden was such a lovable character. I was rooting for him and Rosie the entire way. The characters were well developed and I got wrapped into their story just as Rosie's hair got wrapped around a toliet seat. It was that good. Anyway speaking of toliet seats, was it imperative to add that? No. There was no point in the fact that Rosie's hair was wrapped around a toliet seat. It could've been left out of the story. Hayden's friends, Lea and Drake, had me cracking up at their antics. They acted like my friends and I do together, it was funny. They had real qualities that made them interesting. I loved Rosie's dad. He was so sweet. Chanel seemed a little caught up in herself. At some parts it seemed that she didn't even care about Rosie. Even though she was her "best friend". Well, NEWS FLASH, best friends don't treat their friends like crap. Overall it was a good book with well developed and lovable characters and a great plot. The whole Faerie concept is interesting. Especially when your boyfriend's father is stalking you...

The Review
4 Stars. There was just something about this book that made me love it. I loved how the main character was a fierce, seductive, and butt- kicking heroine. The books I read usually have a lot of romance in it but this book did not. There were some romantic parts but not a lot. It was mostly action and I loved it! I loved Tristan and  I loved Julian. Ryder was just an extra character. Getting rid of him was just a way of getting rid of a "love square" now we only have a "love triangle". I'm not sure how I like the coldness of Kendra's grandmother. I just wish that was different.
