Juliet Capulet didn't take her own life. She was murdered by the person she trusted most, her new husband, Romeo Montague, a sacrifice made to ensure his own immortality. But what Romeo didn't anticipate was that Juliet would be granted eternity, as well, and would become an agent for the Ambassadors of Light. For 700 years, she's fought Romeo for the souls of true lovers, struggling to preserve romantic love and the lives of the innocent. Until the day she meets someone she's forbidden to love, and Romeo, oh Romeo, will do everything in his power to destroy that love.

And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,

The Review
4 Stars
I loved this book. I loved the characters and I loved the subject. Although the beginning was really confusing, as soon as she got in the car with Ben everything was cleared up. I understood then. The subject of Romeo and Juliet being a lie is an amazing subject to write about because there's so many angles you can write from. Ms. Jay wrote form the perfect angle. I loved Airel/ Juliet's character. There was depth there. The was a longing to be free from her prison of servitude, so that she could be with the man she loves, which is NOT Romeo. Ben/ Benvolio's character was a cute and funny character. They wanted what was best for Juliet/ Airel. They never pressed her for answers and they never forced her to do anything or be anyone else. I didn't like Gemma's character. She was a jerk to someone who was supposed to be her best friend. She was so mean. She doesn't deserve a soul mate. She really doesn't. She was a jerk. Some of the things she said made me want to punch her in her face. Then there was the character of Dylan/ Romeo. Romeo wasn't a bad character and he didn't act evil until the very end and at the very beginning. In the middle parts he was perfectly fine. Then there's the fact that he only wanted what was best for Juliet in the old days when they were soul mates. He only did what he did because he was promised Juliet's happiness. He did it for her and not for him. He didn't want to be the way he was. Romeo was trying to find a way out of the curse that was thrust upon him. All he needed was Juliet's love. But he couldn't get it because she was already in love with someone else.
Now to the plot. The story line was fantastic. Juliet's job and Romeo's mission fell nicely in line together. When I felt the plot was coming undone, Ms. Jay tied a nice pretty bow on it and made it better. The fact that Juliet and Ben turned Benvolio ended up together in the end, made it that much better. And when they went back to the past, back to where Juliet came form before she killed herself, it was almost too good. Everything turned out good in the end. Even Romeo got a second chance at a good life. That would be book two Romeo Redeemed.
This book was amazing, there's not a word big enough to describe how I feel about this book. This is a book I will definitely read again.
