This book is genius. I honestly haven't read a book like this before. I loved Remy and Asher's relationship. At some parts their relationship seemed broken but then it was repaired. It was interesting to watch Remy grow as a person. She'd been abused for the longest time before her stepfather went to far and she was sent to live with her father. Since the age of twelve though, she's been healing her mother and herself after each beating. She had to absorb her mother's pain before she could heal it though. That just seemed wrong to me but it makes sense in the long run. She's not like all the other healers and she doesn't heal the same way. Asher has his own personal demons though. He's immortal and it is NOT by choice. When he didn't want to see people he loved die anymore he tried to kill himself. Obviously, it didn't work. But as Remy and Asher get closer they realize that she has the power to turn an immortal, mortal. Something Asher doesn't want now because he is Remy's protector. If he's immortal he can't die and he will forever be able to protect Remy. Remy doesn't want Asher to sacrifice himself for her though. So she, actually, becomes his protector but not officially. Remy is, to say the least, a bit different. She is actually ****SPOILER**** half healer and half protector. So she has the instinct to protect people she cares about. Remy was a great character who really learned how to trust and love again after what her stepfather did to her. She starts to trust and love the man who was never there. She started to become a family with the father who was led to believe Remy didn't want anything to do with him. Remy started to fall IN love with Asher. And Asher fell in love with Remy as well. The last thing I liked about the book is the cover! Oh MY GOSH! I just love it, it's so gorgeous. Just look at it and you'll understand.
